Cowalfest – Walking and Outdoor Festival

There is something for everyone throughout this 10-day festival. Walks feature wildlife, bird watching, drama, photography, art, history, folklore, heritage, tai chi and more. You can also take part in the six-day walk along the Cowal Way. Other options include horse riding and cycling.

MCofS Winter Mountain Safety Talk, Aviemore

Heather Morning, safety adviser for the Mountaineering Council of Scotland, gives a wealth of useful information on how to enjoy the mountains safely in winter. She covers navigation, equipment, choice of route, avalanches and weather conditions. Heather, who has been a member of the Cairngorms Mountain Rescue Team for 12 years and a professional mountaineer for 20 years, will illustrate her talks with a set of beautiful photographs, and proceeds will go to the Mountain Safety Trust.

Contact the venue directly to reserve a free place. Pre-lecture dinner will be served at 7pm for an optional £12 cost. Talk begins at 8pm.
