With events throughout the isles – including trips to some uninhabited ones, the Orkney Nature Festival represents a terrific opportunity to witness the great diversity of wildlife in the area.
It is organised by the local RSPB Scotland office with funding assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.
The beautiful Isle of Coll plays host to this festival of birds in partnership with RSPB Scotland, BTO Scotland, the Scottish Ornithologists Club and Coastal Connection. Over the three days there are seabird safaris, guided walks suitable for all ages and talks to choose from. Prices vary for individual events, but packages are available, which include accommodation at the Coll Bunkhouse from £85 for a two night stay.
Prize goes to Scots photographer Barrie Williams for a moment of cliff top drama. Read more ›
