The Enchanted Forest

A masterpiece of lighting in the outdoors – this popular multi-award winning show returns to fire your imagination.

It’s a great family evening, as the nights draw in and the forest becomes alive with sounds and scenes. There’s story-telling, mulled wine and food on offer too. Prices vary, but a peak family ticket costs £55 (two adults, two children). See the website for more information.

Night Triathlon

If you think triathlons are challenging – try doing one at night. Foxlake Adventures, near Dunbar, are staging this event in association with Borders-based Durty Events, and the tri includes a 300m swim, 4k cycle and a 2k run in and around the woodland site. Just remember to pack your head torch! At time of writing the event is full (120 people signed up for this!). You can go on the waiting list, or go along to cheer them on.

Ride to the Sun

This is a new, unsupported 100 mile cycle ride, starting in Carlisle on Saturday evening and ending at Cramond Beach, Edinburgh for the sunrise (hopefully). It’s pretty informal, and free, so you need to take responsibility for yourself and your bike. You’ll also need lights and reflective clothing, but the route is mainly on B roads, and will be largely traffic-free. Take a look at the website for more information.
