This film festival takes place in Helensburgh, the start (or finish) of the John Muir Way depending on how you choose to walk it. Focusing on new films about wildlife and ecology, the festival awards prizes to young filmmakers. The programme is still being decided for the 2016 event. See their Facebook page for more details.
As part of the John Muir Festival weekend â€“ this 50k ultra marathon is the first in East Lothian, and takes place along the scenic coastline, with the finish at Foxlake Adventures, near Dunbar. Run the whole thing or as a relay team running 25k each.
2014 marks the centenary of John Muir’s death. Considered by many to be the founder of National Parks, he moved from his home town in Dunbar, to the United States, where he founded Yosemite in California.
This inaugural festival celebrates the man’s life and also the opening of a new John Muir Way, which stretches from Dunbar to Helensburgh. There will be many events taking place, and it is best to check the website for full details.
