Gullane beach in East Lothian is a spectacular setting for this popular triathlon. Beginning with a 1500m swim in the (probably cold) sea, this is followed by a 42km bike run on closed roads around the area, then finishing with a 10km run off-road along the dune tops. Early bird prices valid until 31 May.
As part of the John Muir Festival weekend â€“ this 50k ultra marathon is the first in East Lothian, and takes place along the scenic coastline, with the finish at Foxlake Adventures, near Dunbar. Run the whole thing or as a relay team running 25k each.
Choose from a 10k, 5k or 3.5k family run in and around the glorious Pencaitland countryside. Formerly the Pencaitland Fun Run, now held at Winton House, all proceeds go to Marie Curie and other local charities. Prices vary and there are discounts for early bookings. See website for full details.
This is a great chance to see some expert wakeboarders, including Edinburgh’s own Blair Fraser (16) performing stunts at the popular Cable Wakeboarding park in Dunbar, East Lothian. It’s a free event.
Who doesn’t love a puffin? Possibly the nation’s favourite seabird, this 10-day festival devoted to these ‘clowns of the sea’ returns this year with a range of activities, events and games for the whole family.
