The Isle of Bute Festival of Cycling

Known to many simply as “the Rothesay weekend”, this popular cycling festival has been around since the 1930s.

With time trials, road races and cyclocross to choose from, including junior categories, the event has a friendly feel.

John Muir winter carnival

Get down to Foxlake near Dunbar for a day of activities and entertainment. Choose from cyclocross, open water swimming, rowing and disc golf! Most pre-booked races are full up now, but at the time of writing there were still some places left for the under 15s cyclocross.

There’s a giant bonfire, live music, local food stalls (BBQ, waffles and pulled pork), whisky tasting and even a hot tub! Pretty good value at just £3 per car.
