Glencoe mountain rescue team to benefit from Dry Tooling climbing competition at Ice Factor Kinlochleven.

The Scottish Mixed Masters, an Ice Climbing and Dry Tooling competition, will be taking place on Saturday 1 November this year and organisers have promised to donate £10 of every £25 entry fee to the local Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. The competition will be held at The Ice Factor Kinlochleven, with some of the UK’s leading climbers expected to attend.

Donations will help the volunteers in the Rescue Team fund a new extension to their base station and to replace important equipment that was unfortunately stolen last year. John Grieve, team leader of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team said, “Glencoe Mountain Rescue conducted almost 80 rescues in 2013 and this year we’ve already been involved in 40. Therefore, we are very pleased to get support from a local company like Ice Factor Kinlochleven, a facility that’s also used quite a lot by our members.”

The competition itself will include a youth, men’s and women’s category and co-organiser Kevin Shields hopes the competition will also attract some para sport climbers. He adds, “It will be good fun, a great craic and benefit the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. Three good reasons of many to make the journey on 1 November to Ice Factor to compete or spectate!”
