Outdoorsy Christmas gift guide

Buy the outdoors man, woman or child in your life a great gift this Christmas

What makes the ideal Christmas gift? Something new and shiny? Something that your loved one would not buy for themselves? Something that perfectly suits their hobbies, dreams and aspirations? Perhaps the answer is, all of the above, or at the very least a great gift is one that brings a big grin to the face of whoever tears off the wrapping paper.

So there’s no pressure, right? Don’t worry though because we have come up with a guide to some of the best Christmas gifts for men, women and children who enjoy spending time outdoors in Scotland.

This was a great little article, I’ve never come across your magazine (I’ve only just moved to Scotland), but I will be keeping an eye out for it in the future.

I just wanted to point out that, as a Scottish magazine, you could point people in the direction of one of the Scottish kayaking shops such as ‘go kayaking’ (Perth) or ‘Scottish kayaks and paddles’ (Stirling), rather than shops way down in England and Wales.

I have no affiliation to any paddling shop, I just like to support the local shops rather than ordering online from the bigger retailers.

    Merry Christmas!

Hi Chris – thanks for taking the time to comment.

One of the ways in which we support our website is via what’s called affiliate linking.

Once a feature is written, we look to see if the products mentioned are sold by retailers in our affiliate network. If so, we link to them and, if that link leads to a purchase, we receive a very small percentage by way of commission.

The amounts are very small but it helps us to offset some of the costs of running this website alongside our print magazine.

There are, however, many products which aren’t available through such schemes – generally we link these through to the manufacturers but perhaps we could make a point of seeking Scottish-based online retailers to use in these circumstances?

We know of a few – and now two more! – but would gladly hear from our readers about others they use and have had a good experience with.

      Merry Christmas to you too!
