Win two nights’ stay in Perthshire (closed)

ballathie

We’re giving away two nights’ dinner, bed and breakfast for two people at Scotland’s Best Independent Hotel.

Ballathie House Hotel is a grandiose four-star mansion set on a working farm a 20-minute drive north of Perth on the banks of the River Tay.

Voted Best Independent Hotel in the 2014 Catering in Scotland Excellence Awards, it’s the perfect base for outdoor activities. Ballathie is handy for a host of much-loved hills, such as Ben Chonzie, one of the easiest Munros, and Schiehallion, one of the best known, with its valuable plant life and conical outline.
For a gentler stroll, Ballathie’s estate is waiting to be explored and the magnificent grounds of Scone Palace are just a few miles away. The area is rich in cycling routes, too.

HallThe house, built in 1880, has all the fine touches you’d expect from a traditional Scottish country house hotel. Its Riverside Rooms command stunning views over the river.
The Sportsman’s Lodge is ideal for dog lovers and their pets.

The food in the AA 2 Rosette dining room is masterminded by head chef Scott Scorer.

For more information on the hotel or to make a reservation call 01250 883268, or see www.ballathiehousehotel.com

To enter our competition, fill the form below answering the question: Which river does Ballathie overlook?

  1. Pickles Grice says:

You do not appear to cater for the fishing community In Scotland Outdoors. Why?

    • Neil Braidwood says:

It’s a good question – and one we get asked a lot actually. There are so many other magazines out there dedicated to fishing, that we feel it’s best to leave the subject to them. A future issue will touch on the subject however, with an article on sea kayaking – where our writers catch some mackerel for their tea.

  2. John Crone says:

    Thanks for the chance

  3. Simon says:

    Wildlife heaven
